01.Kumamoto Castle
Kumamoto Castle stands majestically in the center of Kumamoto city. This Castle, built by a great commander Kiyomasa Kato, is one of the three famous castles of Japan.
02.Sakura no koji (Sakura no baba, Josaien)
A line-up of 23 stores selected in Kumamoto-ken, such as restaurants where you can enjoy Kumamoto food culture with eyes and tongue, like local cuisine and the menus that can only be tasted here, and shops selling local products and limited goods of Josaien.
03.Suizen-ji koen (Suizen-ji joju-en)
This is a Momoyama-style circuit garden centered around a pond made by abundantly-springing Aso underflow water and is said to resemble the picturesque scenery of the Fifty-three Stages of the Tokaido by miniature hills, floatstones, lawn, and garden trees such as pines.
04.Honmyo-ji
Every March, Hana toro is held. With light-up of approximately 3,000 Japanese paper and hanging lanterns and 8,000 candles, you can enjoy a fantastic scenery.
05.Kumamoto Museum of Modern Literature
This Museum introduces writers and novelists of Kumamoto and displays their works and materials.
06.Tsujunkyo
In 1854, in order to supply water to Shiraito Plateau with poor water access, this bridge was built by a mayor of Yabe named Yasunosuke Futa, which is the largest arch aqueduct in Japan.
07.Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens
Across the flower field in the Garden, you can enjoy field mustards in spring, cosmos in fall, and other flowers in each season. In the zoo, you can see rare animals such as golden snub‐nosed monkeys, which are said to be a model for Songoku.
